Chairman, Ferretti Group

Norberto Ferretti was born in Bologna on May 10th, 1946. Immediately after the end of his schooling, Norberto Ferretti joins his brother Alessandro at the side of his father in the family business: a showroom for Lancia, Autobianchi, Maserati and Lamborghini in Bologna. In 1968 he decides to turn his nautical passion into business, representing the Chris Craft brand (motorboats produced in the United States) and starting to sell boats with the “Ferretti Nautica” company in the city of Bologna. In 1970 the first step is taken towards the start of the Ferretti shipyards. Norberto Ferretti and his brother decide to build their first motorsailer completely on their own. Good business intuition and a willingness to take on a risk are already fully present in Norberto Ferretti’s personality. The seventies and the eighties are years in which Ferretti presents many new models to the public, models with innovations that make the Ferretti name known throughout Italy and Europe for high product quality, exclusive design and competent service. New markets start to appear on the horizon, bearing fruit in the years to come. The eighties are years of commercial change. Ferretti signs the first agreement with a foreign dealer - in Greece. In 1987 Norberto Ferretti inaugurates the new “Ferretti Craft” shipyards in Forlì, where the Ferretti Group are still located today. In 1989 the Ferretti shipyards enter the world of Offshore and Norberto Ferretti wins the title of ‘World Offshore Class 1 Champion’ in 1994. In the nineties Ferretti is the point of reference in world of innovation, technology and quality, thus becoming one of the most important players in the nautical market. Since 1998 Norberto Ferretti has been President of the Ferretti Group and has started a campaign of acquisitions that have made the Ferretti Group the world leader in the production of luxury motoryachts, with 9 of the most prestigious brands in the world: Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Bertram, Riva, Apreamare, Mochi Craft, Custom Line and CRN. In 2000 Norberto Ferretti successfully lists the company on the Italian Stock Exchange Market until the final delisting in January 2003.
