Matteo Cordero di Montezemolo is the Managing Director of Montezemolo & Partners SGR, exclusive advisor of Charme Investments; the European Private Equity Fund promoted by the Montezemolo family together with selected international partners such as Unicredito Italiano, Diego Della Valle of Tod’s (Luxury Group), Johan Rupert (Chairman of Richemont Luxury Group). Charme Investments has been founded by the Montezemolo family in 2003 with the aim to invest in high end brands in the luxury industry and expand them internationally. He is Member of the Board of Directors of the Companies acquired by Charme Investments since its’ foundation in 2003. In particular: Poltrona Frau; worldwide leading company in the high-end segment of the furniture and design industry, Cassina; the historical, cult Italian company, world leader in industrial design, Cappellini; leading brand in the contemporary design industry, Gebruder Thonet Vienna; historical Austrian worldwide leader in furniture production. He is also Co-Chairman of Poltrona Frau Group (Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini, Alias and Gebruder Thonet Vienna), listed by Charme on the Italian Stock Exchange in November 2006. Poltrona Frau Group is today the worldwide leader in the high end of the design industry with a turnover of €300 million, representing the most prestigious brands in the industry.

Charme Investments in 2004 acquired Ballantyne Cashmere; historical luxury brand founded in Scotland in 1921 and leader in the high end segment of the cashmere and luxury industry.

Charme Invetsments in 2007 acquired Grandi Navi Veloci, the most important tourism shipping company with ultra fast ferry boats.

 

In 2009 Montezemolo & Partners SGR raised Charme II with a total commitment of 340 mln € ready to be invested in italian companies for their international growth.

Since 2007 Matteo is Vice-Chairman of Altagamma, the Italian association representing the most prestigious brands in the luxury and made-in-Italy industry.

Previously he was in Goldman Sachs International Investment Banking Division in New York and London.
