Rodrigo BASILICATI

Artistic director, Studio Pierre Cardin Paris

Rodrigo Basilicati was born in Padua in 1970. Venetian designer characterised by various artistic interests, he is famous fashion designer Pierre Cardin’s nephew and close associate, by whom he inherited the “creative DNA” .

After achieving the Scientific Baccalaureate in Padua, he achieved the degree in Civil Engineering at Padua University. He also graduated in Musicology and Musical Heritage, studying at Liszt Academy in Budapest. As a piano player he developed a concert career and he received prestigious awards at international competitions.

Since 1996 he has been President and Ceo of corporate branches of Maison Pierre Cardin in Italy. He has directed a lot of artistic and theatrical productions at Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris. In 1999 he started working as a designer, expressing his own creativity by designing and producing lamps, furniture and furnishing accessories known as “Sculptures utilitaires”, a collection created by Pierre Cardin in the 1970s (www.pierrecardin-forme.com).

As an engineer he signed the architectural project known as “Palais Lumière”, an inhabitable 250 meters tall sculpture that Pierre Cardin proposed in 2010 for the industrial area in Venice.

Now he is the artistic director at Studio Pierre Cardin in Paris.

He lives and works in Paris and Venice.
