Italo ROTA

Architect, Studio Italo Rota and Partners

Born in 1953 in Milan, Italy. He graduated from Milan Polytechnic. After winning the competition for the interior design of the Museum of Modern Art at the Pompidou Centre, he moved to Paris, where he signed the renovation of the Musée d'Orsay (with Gae Aulenti), the new halls of the School French Cour Carré of the Louvre and the renovation of the city center of Nantes. Since 1996 he lives and works in Milan. In 1998 he opened Studio Italo Rota & Partners.

Works of the studio vary by subject, type and scale - from museum to church, from casino to auditorium and urban intervention - always finding a comprehensive approach that derives from the experience of exhibitions, events and temporary structures.

Study Rota is a wealth of shapes, colors and materials. It is an accumulation of resources –like the special use of light and audacious lines that create extremely lively and artistic interiors and objects, giving the impression of a multidimensional project and a penetration of space and movement.

Among the major projects under way: in Italy, Palermo the rearrangement of Palazzo Forcella de Seta and the renovation of the Maritime Station; in Milan the conversion of the Palazzo dell’Arengario in Museo del Novecento; in India the conversion of the steelworks of Dolvi. The main realizations of 2008 are: the thematic pavilion "Ciudades de Agua" for Expo Zaragoza 2008 and Cavalli Club in Florence. In 2009 was inaugurated the Hindu temple of Lord Hanuman in India, Cavalli Club in Dubai and Boscolo Exedra Hotel in Milan. The year 2010 began with the design of DimMI – an information point for the city of Milan and the Chameleon Club in Dubai.
