Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana

Founded in 1958, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is a non-profit Association with head offices in Milan. It represents 130 Italian fashion companies, it coordinates, safeguards and promotes the identity and excellence of Italian fashion. It serves as reference point for initiatives aimed to raising awareness, spreading and valorizing fashion in Italy and abroad. Milano Moda Donna and Milano Moda Uomo are annual events featuring an endless amount of fashion shows. In addition to highly acclaimed designers, these happenings attract lively new talents and offerings yearly.

On 3 February 2003 the Prefecture of Milan granted the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana legal status. In 2004, the Region of Lombardy also conceded the organization the right to operate as a training Institution. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana plays an important role in international fashion events through sealed alliances with Paris, London and New York. It is a source of inspiration for international fashion weeks hosted in San Paolo, Tokyo and Shanghai.

A major change in the life of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana has been represented during  the ordinary CNMI members meeting on 17 April 2013 thanks to the innovations related to the direct involvement of the key players of the fashion world, to the new governance that foresees the presence of prominent business figures and to the change of the Status of Association with the aim to allow the addition of a Managing Director.

Today Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana has the institutional leadership in the representation of Italian fashion and plays a major role in giving institutional cohesion and consistency. The new mission of the CNMI, with more available resources, will be to:

  • Strengthen the leadership of the CNMI as the reference Institution for the Italian fashion
  • Promote the central role of Milan and respond to the challenge of the major fashion weeks (New York, London and Paris)
  • Being the functional interlocutor of the fashion world toward government, regional, and  cities institutions

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is an asset shared among its members, who represent the core value of business associations.

The credibility and authority recognized to the brand, to the institutional status and to the organization of CNMI are the unique intangible values of its image.
