Andrea ROSSO

Creative director of Diesel Licensed products, DIESEL; Founder, MYAR

Curiosity and passion are the two most distinguishing traits of Andrea Rosso’s personality. Born and raised in Bassano del Grappa, Andrea relishes living in his hometown where he can be close to his friends and family, and the lifelong creature comforts that fuel his creativity. Music, graphic art, flea markets are all important pursuits that help him steer his passion to exciting new heights.

One quick look at Andrea’s office and it’s clear where his enthusiasm for design stems from — it’s like a treasure trove of pop cultural information. A gargantuan bookshelf sits behind his desk and buckles under the weight of books with topics as wide ranging as Thai graphic design, Star Wars posters, World War II parachutes and Balkan history. At one time or another, every book has served as a source of inspiration for him. Of greater note, however, are the paraphernalia from competing companies. Here too Andrea finds inspiration. He learns from his competitors and their lessons, and they welcome him with open arms. Take a moment to ask him what he has learned from his upbringing and he will give you one simple answer: to take risks.

Andrea is a descendant of Diesel, so it comes as no surprise that he was instinctively drawn to the fashion business. In preparation, he studied pattern cutting in Padova, but it was while studying English in California that he discovered a love for nonconformist skills such as graphic, art and vintage passion. From there, he went on to New York to study Textile Development and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and ultimately, to begin conceiving his role inside Diesel. Andrea is currently the creative director of all Diesel licensed products (fragrances with L’Oreal, watches and jewelry with Fossil, eyewear with Marcolin, headphones with Monster, bicycles with Pinarello, helmets with AGV/Dainese, a Home Collection with Moroso – furniture, Foscarini – lighting, Zucchi - home textile, Scavolini - kitchens and recently Seletti - tableware).
